ʐɨ qəsoid mani (The Meaning of My Ode) – Wakhi

me spo zik mə naʂt, saiʃ me ətrangɨʂ jət goçev neja
In order for our language not to disappear, you preserve it by filming. uz jəti nəviʃəm bajd ki spo zik tʃə bajnən mə rəʂt.
I write songs in our language in order to save it. ʐɨn çɨnən bə dastnəwis kitob təj
I also have handwritten a book, ajət dɨsad aʃtod- sesad bajd ʐɨn.
which has approximately 270 to 300 songs in it, faqat nast xalg ki jawi tʃiz tsart
but I haven’t found anyone who can tʃop tsart neja ja nɨsxai.
type and publish it. me a tum. bajdiʃ ʐɨn təj çikwor.
So I have many songs in Wakhi. ajətəm a dəm dɨnjoi ʃarət ʃur misol,
For instance, from the ode, in this busy world, jəm dɨnjoəʂ win qila nəj
as you see around you, misol arxela mazabiʃ, arxela diniʃ
there are different religions and faiths, ki dar borai ajaw çand, ki jo məwlo saki a tsəmvən
and what [I sang in the ode] is: “Oh, beloved Mawla [Aga Khan], dast wɨdɨr ki spo zaiʃət spo
guide us along the right path so that our young people, umuman spo mərdinaiʃət odʒiz, umuman kɨ xalq nəja
and everybody in general, tər dəgar tʃizvi məʃəxəst.
don’t get lost. ʐɨ dast pə ti doman məwlo, ki amzi əmvi
All my hope is that you, Mawla, that you atsəm tʃizən niga ðɨr.
can guide and protect us. adəm dənjoi ʃarət ʃur, ʐɨ dast rə ti doman məwlo
In this busy life, all my hopes are in you, Mawla. uz bəndai osii kur
I am a blind creator and ʐɨ dast rə ti doman məwlo.
all my hopes are you, Mawla.” jət mani adzi, ki uzəm ɣal tsə ti sirən xəbar
That means I am still not aware tʃe məwlo sirnəm ɣal xəbar nast oxir.
of Mawla’s mysteries. bəroi on ki ʂəʝd jəm soloi
Because, recently we were oxir sakən çɨ məwloi windi.
able to see our Mawla physically ki ɣalək bə tawɨʂ nə diʃəm.
and we are still discovering everything. jan xalqi dənjo zəmin wɨdrətk
Then — “the people of the world are holding onto the earth, nast adzi xalg ki çɨ din wɨdrətk
but there is nobody who could hold his faith.” misol dəm dənjo xalq təqi
That means, there are people in this world jəm zəmini wɨdrətk, amo adzi xalg nast ki çɨ dini wɨdrətk.
who are holding onto earth [wealth], but there is no one who is holding [practicing] his [kind of] faith. nəja? bəʂtər xalg tsə dinən bixəbarəv.
Right? There are many people who are not aware of their own faith. lətsər ki woz bə çanəm, e məwlo
Then I repeated again, “O beloved Mawla, dast wɨdɨr ki lətsər jawiʃ tsə zəminən
guide everyone not just to misol bazi dənjoi wɨdrətk
go after material life.” neja? pɨli wɨdrətk.
Right? Those who have taken the money path. amo çɨ din wɨdrakər xalg kam.
But there are only few who are into their faith. me əm tum!
That’s all! təqiət təj, spotsən ji amrai dgar
We have another friend, [?] jaw niv nast qɨrbonʃo jaw xɨʃruj nəviʃt.
who is not here currently, called Qurbonsho. He writes beautiful [songs]. ji kaʂi dgar tsə zɨgwəndən mirali.
Also, there is another guy, Mirali from Zugvand. jan bət kuj? ikram! ji kaʂi dgar ʃəʝd təlaba
Who else? Ikrom, another guy, a new, joʃ kaʂ student, jaw bə nəviʃtɨʂək
young student, he also started writing ajəm çikwor mado spo zik.
songs and odes in our language. madoət bajdət, misol də kitob ət nast jət ti gap ki
As you mentioned, very few of our odes and songs are written down in books, agar sak jəti nə goçən ətʃiz nə wərəʂt nasli ojandar.
so if we don’t work on it, nothing will be left for the next generation. sakɨʂ xoiʃ tsarən ki osta – osta kitob wostət,
We are hoping and willing to have books, jəmiʃ madoi sək çikwor çanənət
and for odes to be sung in our language.
