A Litany For Survival: the Life and Work of Audre Lorde -Trailer -TWN

I’m finishing this piece of my bargain
and what I mean by that is it doesn’t matter how long it takes it finish it I
don’t know but that that is the shape of where I am living and functioning and
that I’m going on to something else the shape of which I have no idea only thing
I know is it’s going to be quite different what I leave behind as a life
of its own I’ve said this about poetry I’ve said it about children well in a
sense I’m saying it about the very artifact of who I have been for those of
us who live at the shoreline standing upon the constant edges of decision
crucial alone for those of us who cannot indulge the passing dreams of choice who
love in doorways coming and going in the hours between dawn looking inward and
outward at once before and after seeking now that can breed future I remembered
all of those particular things I started writing because I had a need and cited
me to create something that was not there you cry though I was editor by high
school magazine and I wrote a poem about love
and the student advisor the faculty advisor said it was a bad sonnet and I
really knew that it was a good one did you see but I knew that she didn’t
like it because of the things that I said in it so I sent it off to Seventeen
magazine as they bought it and they made more money from that one poem that I
made for the next 10 years it’s true
well you can’t run

  3. I've been trying to get a copy of this DVD for about 8 years. It's not available for "personal use," which is deeply unfortunate. I saw it once at college. I don't know why TWN posted this. It's like a tease to anyone who is not affiliated with a "worthy" organization. I think we should start a movement to make this film available to all!

  7. That punched me right in the heart, and made me smile. She is such a hero of mine. I love her words, the way she speaks, her spirit, the light in her eyes. I would love to watch this film. Litany for Survival is one of my favorite poems of all time.

  8. Horses farts rhyme much better and more poetic than this doped up lesbian idiot's brain farts. Stop doing drugs people and start reading some Shakespeare, Goethe, Pushkin for change…
