Welcome, everybody. Welcome to ICA Performs: Judy Chicago
A Purple Poem for Miami. It’s my honor and pleasure to
introduce to you, Judy Chicago. She has some remarks. And then off to the races. I’m really excited to share
A Purple Poem for Miami with you. We’ve been working
on it for a year. I started doing colored smoke
pieces at the end of the 1960s until 1974. I did a series of
smoke and flares pieces all over Southern California. I started again in 2012. We’re giving Miami we hope
a gift that you will enjoy. So please enjoy
A Purple Poem for Miami. Thank you.
[Applause] Before this is over let me tell you that one of
my goals with these pieces was to soften and
feminize the environment and show the world
what it would look like if we were all kinder and
more generous with each other. And now let’s hear it
for the pyro crew!
