Life Art Model || Spoken Word Poetry

She’s no clothes rack
there’s no clothes on her back on her back is where she lies
about what she does to her friends how she does many things with her body
her body, her limbs, her sex there’s no sex, no touching
knees touching chin, creating shapes spaces make shapes, thighs open wide
she opens her mind a mind that changes every time she
change poses with time 5 minutes, 10 minutes, half an hour
half curled, vulnerable, bent over, powerful pencil over paper, paint over paper, ink over
paper she is origami and she sculpts
her body, her limbs, her sex two hours for two hundred dollars
two muscles get tired: the brain and her back on her back is where she stands
for human rights, women’s rights, her rights right there on the mat with plain cushions
every expression, plain and platonic professional with no academic backing
on her back is where she keeps her body, her limbs, her sex
her pride as they dub her the best model they’ve ever
had the best model
the best the
they they say
they say she will work with them again two hours for two hundred dollars
more than minimum wage but there’s a future and
who will fight for a higher pay? when there’s no workable contract
no laws to guard her back on her back is where she lies
with no clothes on and no regrets.
