My Poem For Life

I’m beginning to learn how big of an
impact traveling is having on my life. Not necessarily the physical act of
traveling but, but how you take those experiences you have, and carry them
through your life. I’ve been traveling for the past four years now, and the only
thing that I truly value, are my experiences. Which is perhaps why I feel
the need to record and document them. And for most of my life, since I was a child,
I was taught to value these illusions that we have created all around us. To seek wealth, and assets, and belongings. It’s been hard for me to understand that
for the majority of my life, I’ve valued the wrong thing. But that’s okay, because
I’ve realized this now. I had to go out and experience the world
outside of my bubble to realize who I am and what’s meaningful. No amount of
wealth can bring us this. And now I’m here, on the other side of the world from
where I was born, experiencing what life was like for Kyla
growing up in South Africa. It’s really amazing, meeting her family,
sharing thoughts and ideas, stories, going on road trips together, or playing cards by
the fire, there is nothing more valuable than this. Realizing what you have is
enough. That we are all the same as each other, even though we grew up on
different sides of the world, we all experience happiness and suffering. That’s what makes you and I, us
