The Door – a poem by Miroslav Holub

Go and open the door. Maybe outside there’s a tree, or a wood, A garden, Or a magic city. Go and open the door Maybe a dog’s rummaging, Maybe you’ll see a face, or an eye, or the picture of a picture. Go and open the door, If there’s a fog It will clear. Go and open the door, Even if there’s only
The darkness ticking, Even if there’s only
The hollow wind, even if nothing is there, go and open the door. at least there’ll be a draught.

  1. I used this poem in a play I wrote 'Jean Jean and the real Jean. It was important to the scene as someone was banging on a door and the person at the other side of the door wouldn't open the door because she was terrified of what she was going to hear about her past. Beautiful poem.

  2. Why the hell did u post this on YouTube it's so weird xx your a door xx

  3. I've got to perform this to a group of kids tomorrow, I hadn't a clue how to deliver it so this was really helpful.
